Eighteen-year-old Chelsea Guo is in the final year of her Pre-College studies at the Juilliard School where she studies piano with Hung-Kuan Chen and classical voice with Lorraine Nubar.

Already at a young age, Chelsea has been honored with numerous awards and opportunities for professional advancement. She is a Young Scholar of the Lang Lang Foundation, a young artist of the Artemisia Akademie at Yale University, and a recipient of the US Chopin Foundation Scholarships for three consecutive years. She has been a prize winner at the Ettlingen International Piano Competition, the Young Artists Concerto Competition at Piano Texas, and the Juilliard School Piano Full Scholarship Competition. Her gifts as a classical soprano were acknowledged most recently when she received the Silver Medal in the 2019 YoungArts Classical Voice Competition and became one of the sixty semi-final applicants for the 2019 Presidential Award. Chelsea has also been awarded prestigious scholarships from the George London and Gerda Lissner foundations and was the first prize winner of the 2018 Schmidt Voice Competition.

Having debuted as pianist with the Tianjin Symphony Orchestra at the age of nine, Chelsea returned to that orchestra in December 2018 when she performed as vocal soloist under the baton of Tang Muhai. In the previous month, she was a guest artist at the 6th Shenzhen Piano Music Festival during a trip which also included four solo recitals and two gala concerts in Shenzhen and Tianjin.

In January 2018, Chelsea performed in the “Grammy Salute to Classical Music: Celebrating the Legacy of Leonard Bernstein” at the Stern Auditorium of Carnegie Hall. She was also featured by the Lang Lang Foundation at the young scholars’ recital in Weill Hall. In May 2018, Chelsea gave recitals at Wigmore Hall in London and Howard Assembly Room in Leeds as a young guest artist of the Inaugural Leeds Piano Festival, sponsored by the Leeds International Piano Competition in England.

Chelsea’s appearances as concerto soloist have included the Ft. Worth Symphony under the baton of Barry Douglas, the Torun Symphony in Poland, the Midwest Young Artists Symphony in Chicago, and the Connecticut Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra. Other solo performances have taken her to Aspen, Colorado’s Harris Concert Hall, Chicago’s Millennium Park, and the Ishikawa Concert Hall in Japan. Chelsea’s radio appearances have included National Public Radio’s “From the Top” and New York Classical Music Radio Station WQXR’s “Young Artist Showcase”, at the age of eight.
