About:

Tamana Tanaka was born in Tokyo, Japan. She began her studies with Yoshiko Zushi at the age of 6. She also had the guidance of Kazuko Jankowsky, professor at Musikschule der Stadt Wien, until 18. She earned her Bachelor’s and pre-Master’s degrees at Toho Gakuen School of Music in Tokyo, studying with Prof. Michiko Okamoto and Prof. Mikako Abe. She was one of the few pianists honored to perform in the official Toho Gakuen School of Music graduation concert of 2016. Pursuing her higher studies, she came to the USA in 2017 to study with Prof. Jerome Rose at Mannes School of Music in NYC and graduated in her Master’s degree in 2019, receiving the Steinway & Sons Award at The New School, also finished Professional Studies Diploma in 2021, receiving the Marian Marcus Wahl Memorial Award which is presented to a pianist who shows such an excellence in achievement and talent.

She made her European debut recital in Cittadella (Italy) in 2019 and also was back to play again in 2021, as a guest artist, and also played piano concerti as a soloist with Circle Symphony Orchestra, where she received a great audience success. She also made a solo recital debut as a guest artist on Klavierhaus West at Palm Springs (CA) in 2021. She has performed in several international concert halls such as Hamarikyu Asahi Hall in Tokyo, Chofu City Green Hall in Chofu, Kusunoki Hall in Chofu, Yamano Music Salon Ginza in Tokyo, Yuri Hall in Kanagawa, Nerima City Oizumi-gakuen Yumeria Hall in Tokyo, Seijo Hall in Tokyo, Steinway Hall in NYC, Lang Recital Hall at Hunter College in NYC, The Union Club Of The City Of New York, Stiefel Concert Hall at Mannes School of Music, KlavierHaus in NYC, Main Auditorium at Villa Rina(Citadella, Italy), Villa Bossi at Bodio Lomnago (Varese, Italy), etc.

She participated in several international festivals such as the International Keyboard Institute & festival (IKIF) in New York, Cittadella International Music Festival & Masterclass (Italy), Masterclass “IspirAzioni Sonore" in Collescipoli, “Accademia Europea Villa Bossi" (Italy), Kasama International Music Festival in Japan and so on. She has received masterclasses from Mikhail Voskresensky, Pascal Devoyon, Christopher Elton, Bronislaba Kawalla, Victor Rosenbaum, Asaf Zohar, Yukio Yokoyama, Susumu Aoyagi, Akira Eguchi, etc.

In addition to two honorable awards from The New School, she has received many awards and distinctions, such as Finalist of the 2019 Mannes Concerto Competition, Second Prize at the Tokyo Piano Competition, Finalist of the historical annual Japan Piano Teachers Association Piano Audition (Public Interest Foundation Inc.), Finalist of Japan Classical Music Competition, among others.
