About Andrea Casarrubios

Celebrated by The New York Times for having "traversed the palette of emotions" with "gorgeous tone and an edge of-seat intensity" and described by Diario de Menorca as an "ideal performer" that offers "elegance, displayed virtuosity, and great expressive power," Spanish-born cellist and composer Andrea Casarrubios has played as a soloist and chamber musician throughout Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas. First Prize winner of numerous international competitions and awards, Casarrubios has appeared at Carnegie Hall, Walt Disney Concert Hall, Lincoln Center, and the Piatigorsky, Ravinia, and Verbier Festivals. Her latest engagements include commissions and concerts in Canada, Mexico, Spain, Germany, and the United States. A dedicated mentor, she has taught masterclasses at The Juilliard School, University of Southern California, Eastman School of Music, City University of New York, Missouri State University, as well as at numerous festivals and insitutions on tour. Her cello teachers have included Maria de Macedo, Lluis Claret, Amit Peled, Marcy Rosen, and Ralph Kirshbaum. She is an alumna of Ensemble Connect, and as part of her Doctoral degree in New York, Casarrubios also studied composition with John Corigliano.

About Audrey Abela

Praised for her sensitive and individual interpretations, French pianist Audrey Abela has performed extensively in the United States, South America and Europe in major venues such as Carnegie Hall, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Symphony Space, Steinway Hall, Chicago Cultural Center, Salle Gaveau, Salle Cortot, Salle Pleyel and the Royal Dublin Society. She holds a Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from Manhattan School of Music and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from CUNY Graduate Center. In 2019, she completed her dissertation, a study on French pianism at the Paris Conservatory during the Interwar Period. Subsequently, she recorded her debut album, En Suite, an homage to French piano music, which was described as “a disc to treasure.” Over the years, she had the privilege to work with and be influenced by artists such as Menahem Pressler, Paul Badura-Skoda, Robert McDonald, John O’Connor, André Laplante, Evelyne Crochet and David Dubal. Mrs. Abela is passionate about teaching and transmitting her love of music to the youth; she is the director and founder of Opus One Music, a thriving music school based in New York City. Mrs. Abela is the mother of two young children.
